Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 20, 2026
1. Introduction
KidQuest ("we", "us", "our") operates the KidQuest mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it. Our App is designed for families with children aged 3 and older. We are committed to complying with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act), GDPR-K, and all applicable children's privacy regulations.
2. Information We Collect
Parent Account: email address, display name, optional profile photo, and device identifiers for push notifications.
Child Accounts: first name (or nickname), avatar, and app usage data (task completions, game scores, reward history). Child accounts are created and fully managed by the parent. We do not collect email, phone numbers, or real names from children.
Camera Permission: The App requests camera access solely so parents can photograph task completions (proof photos) and gift items. Camera data is never uploaded to third-party servers. Photos are stored securely on our servers and are accessible only to the parent who uploaded them.
3. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect precise geolocation, contact lists, call logs, SMS, microphone audio, or browsing history. We do not use advertising SDKs, analytics trackers, or any third-party data brokers. We do not record audio — the RECORD_AUDIO permission is explicitly blocked in our app manifest.
4. How We Use Information
We use collected information exclusively to: provide and improve the App's features; authenticate users and maintain session security; display task history, game scores, and rewards; send push notifications (if opted in by the parent); respond to support requests.
5. Data Storage & Security
All data is stored on secure servers with encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Refresh tokens are stored as bcrypt hashes server-side. We implement rate limiting, device-based session tracking, and role-based access controls to prevent unauthorized access.
6. Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K)
Child accounts cannot be created without a parent account. Children cannot communicate with other users, share personal information, or access external links within the App. We collect the minimum data necessary to provide the service. Parents can view, modify, or delete all child data at any time from the parent dashboard. A parent can delete their account and all associated child data permanently via Settings > Account Deletion.
7. Permissions Explained
Camera (android.permission.CAMERA): Used only to photograph task proof and gift images. Controlled by the parent. No video or audio recording.
Internet (android.permission.INTERNET): Required for syncing data with our servers.
Push Notifications: Optional. Used to remind parents about pending task approvals.
8. Data Retention & Deletion
Account data is retained while the account is active. When a parent requests account deletion, all data (parent profile, child profiles, tasks, gifts, schedules, game history, uploaded photos, tokens, devices) is permanently and irreversibly deleted within 30 days. You can request deletion by emailing support@kidquest.online or using the in-app deletion feature.
9. Third-Party Services
We use Expo push notification service for delivering notifications. We do not share any personal data with advertisers, analytics companies, or data brokers. Payment processing for Premium subscriptions is handled entirely by Google Play / Apple App Store — we never see or store payment card details.
10. International Data Transfers
Our servers may be located outside your country of residence. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of information to countries that may have different data protection laws. We ensure adequate safeguards are in place.
11. Your Rights
You have the right to: access, correct, or delete your personal data; withdraw consent for data processing; request data portability; lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@kidquest.online.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users via in-app notification of any material changes. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
